about

MAURO CICCOZZI TRIO
EVOLUTION

A point of arrival which is the launching platform for the next steps; a dream come true, of the same material of dreams and yet strongly concrete.
Sophisticated but at the same time artisan and authentic, elaborate, complex but also of a simplicity that is sometimes as disarming as a child's smile. A fine and delicate caress but also bare and raw rock.
This album looks like an iridescent active mirror, an apparently simple but functional kaleidoscope with which to spend time pleasantly.
With its 9 tracks (6 written by Mauro Ciccozzi, 3 tribute to great columns of Jazz) it acts as a projective test through which we find ourselves in a universe of inner images. A polite but intense invitation to immerse oneself in spirals of time and space, always new and yet familiar and coherent from the first to the last note, with (last but not least) 2 exceptional guests perfectly inserted (Joy Garrison, Leonardo Saharo Rowan). "Dulcis in fundo" includes a DVD containing a Live Session of the Trio (overwhelming and innovative) with excellent guests, and sincere images that invite you to share the moods of the components during the recordings.

A "gift package (CD + DVD)" permeated with natural psychedelia, not to be missed.

MAURO CICCOZZI TRIO
EVOLUTION

EXHIBITION NOTES

1 EVOLUTION: The Theme: Strongly refers to "The Inner Mounting Flame" 1st album of the Mahavishnu Orchestra (1971) matrix of the Jazzrock meeting (with In A Silent Way (1969) and "Bitchies Brew (1970)" not like quotation but as a matrix since then interio = organized by Mauro. Solos and castanets: The strong mediterra spirit emerges neo of the M.C.Trio. Despite the song has one part in 15/8, one in 6/8, dead ends in 14/4 and an undeniable technique of execution, it flows to the I listen to his musicality.
"Evolution" in fact as evolution in language
of emotions, not only as a technique.

2 'NACONDA: Written by Mauro is a tribute to his Master John McLaughlin. Noteworthy is the interlocking rhythm / harmony / melody e
the saxophonistic contribution of L.Sorba that in the free part interprets very well the symmetrical scale anticipating the guitar solo.

3 BLIND IN MY HEART: One touches on Jazz aspects, from the premises of Harlem to the Bebop, which meet in the deep voice flute by Joy Garrison who plays and matter = vying the reason of the title: Blind In My Heart, not at random the only piece by Mauro that is not exclusive = instrumental mind.

4 JOZY: One of the standards of the Album, Jozy (J.mcLaughlin)
dedicated to J.Zawinul, reinterpreted with waves of juvenile psychedelia.

5 ETHOS: A kaleidoscope that navigates between tribal moods
and distant spaces, thanks to the "liquid" notes of the acoustic guitar with the keys carved like a Sitar, on which the thousand fingers of Mauro, in company, also here, of the Sax di L.S.Sorba.

6 NAIMA: A "CAMEO" tribute to one of the Great's
All-time jazz, John Coltrane, to which we are all indebted.
The review is deliberately respectful and measured in his
original form.

MARK RIDDER: It is a song with a marked "PROG" flavor, but with
strongly Bebop theme, in which emerges the guitar technique = and a taste vaguely "Hendrixiano".

My Foolish Heart: One of the most popular and reinterpreted Jazz standards. This version was recorded at 3 am. Between so many was chosen this first as it was permeated with
feeling and intimacy.
